Who would listen to warnings in good times?

I really like the book of Jeremiah tho I have only just started on the first 7 chapters. 
In times of prosperity, God sent Jeremiah to warn His straying people. 
Who would listen to warnings in good times, in a wealthy nation like ours? 
I would cos I don't want history to repeat itself. 
We are to be like Jeremiah; the voice of God calling for the searching of hearts n minds to align them with His!
